I'm currently sitting in an international airport trying my hardest to figure out what exactly I'll need to get my notebook to charge overseas. After much research, I THINK I've figured it out.. but I just wanted to double check. My Dell E1705 definitely has a dual voltage AC/DC adapter.. however, I'm not sure what exactly I will need to use that overseas.

I know that there are adapters of all sorts that change the shape of the plug, but are there any specifications that said adapter needs to meet? Or will any adapter that fits do? I have found little to nothing about adapters having different specs, but all the ones that I'm looking at here at the airport have different max wattages. Since I see nothing about wattage in the information I've read so far about simple adapters, is it necessary to spend the extra money for an adapter that specifically touts it is for notebooks, as opposed to the cheaper ones that say little to nothing? (My AC/DC adapter is 90W)

Also, am I right in thinking that the plug adapter (in addition to my dual voltage AC/DC adapter) is all I will need?

Yes, a simple power adapter/converter plug will do. Don’t worry about max wattage ratings, because any converter plug can handle a 90W notebook charger; those wattage limits only matter when plugging in high power devices like heaters, ovens, vacuum cleaners etc. which are usually over 500W.

Thank you both for your help! Just in time, as I have only a few minutes left on my battery and was wondering if I should buy the expensive or cheap adapters =)

    Thanks again!
