The only problem I'm having with my new Vostro 1700 is that the Touchpad isn't as responsive to finger movements as the one on my old Vostro 1500 (since returned).

Has anyone tried tried any treatments to make the Touchpad more responsive to the touch?

I was thinking that a small cleaning with Pledge furniture polish may help. Any thoughts?

Look at the bottom right side of your toolbar. There should be a app called Dell Touchpad. You can adjust the sensitivity there.

I've tried various settings with the Dell App and it's still not as responsive as it should be.

One thought I had was that it could be that Vista is just slower in responding Touchpad motion than XP.

People have been complaining about it in Vista too.

Perhaps it is the touchpad. Is this going to be the whole "Yes i got a _____ touchpad" like the screens?

Well. I'm fine with my Alps.

No real problems here. Then again, I like using a touchpad.

So far, the touchpad is giving me issues. Even on max sensitivity, I feel like it doesn't always register my taps.

Then again, this is my first ever laptop and perhaps I just need more practice.

Yea I just got the Dell Vostro 1400 and it just doesn't seem as sensitive as my other older Dell Inspirion 5100, even on max sensitivity.
