since i dont own a 1530
well at least not yet
waiting for LED
is it a marketing gimmick or is it really < 1" thin in the front
what i am trying to say is
when u place the laptop on a flat surface
does it measure < 1" high
because what i really care about is the true height from ground up
anyone feeling me
i mean i dont care if it is 0.1" thin in the front
it is the true height from ground up that i really care about
-
According to the spec (scroll down to the bottom of the page)
Height: 23.7 mm~35.1 mm ( 0.93 in~ 1.38 in)
Width: 357 mm (14.05 in)
Depth: 263 mm (10.35 in)
Under 1" only in the front -
thanx for the kind response

So basically if you had to shove the thing under a steel door with a 1" gap underneath, some bits of the laptop are gonna be left behind.

In terms of marketing gimmicks it is a gimmick really. Yes the xps m1530 is slightly less than an inch thick in the front. It is also almost an inch and a half thin at the back. But they can market it as "the thinnest 15 inch notebook" blah blah blah
Much like they did with the 1330. They market ti as the thinnest 13.3 inch notebook. They boast that it is thinner than the macbook as well. Yet when you look at actual surface mass and total size it is bigger.
Regardless of the gimmick I like the sloped style, it is very sports car like. -
the size is nothing out there... its considered smaller i guess when compared to... inspirons, id say the size at best is only on par with other manufacturers of 15.4 inch notebooks.
-
FYI, There are probably rubber feet at the bottom that would make it stand off a table more than 1"
-
Either way...
The m1530 is a very good looking machine, and it out performs MANY other 15.4" notebooks, even the MBP.
True or False: is 1530 really < 1" thin
