Is truelife only the glossy screen? I just noticed that my order (still is processing) is listed as having the screen with true life which isn't what I ordered.

Ugg, is glossy really as bad as it seems and if my order is still in processing will it be delayed further if I change it now?

Glossy is beautiful, IMO. All my flat panels and laptops with the exception of my T60 has a glossy finish.

matte or anti glare is like most lcd or plasma tv screens. (kinda...sry its hard to explain)
Glossy (truelife or w/e) has a shiny coating that increases colour contrast and brightens colours (aparently). When in a bright area, there can easily be a reflection. Glossy looks pretty snazzy but isnt most effective outside or in bright rooms.

Basically, you can learn to live with either and glossy isnt as reflective as everyone says it can be. Also, straight on in a lower light room, glossy probably looks a tad better, and overall sharper.

I guess I'm just going to stick with the TrueLife. Does anyone know how long it takes to get from order processing to actual building?

    .

The best thing to do is call the automated status number 1 800 433 -9014 . It generally goes to build stage within a day. But it generally gets stuck there for weeks sometimes. It varies allot. When it goes from the built stage to testing/boxing then you will get it pretty quick. Boxing means it is on a jet over the pacific to dell facility.. after which they put in box with cables etc.. and put on carrier.

If you have a long estimated ship date you can call and see if they can expedite system.. they will often provide free overnight shipping too. Its not too hard to get expediting.. Whether it does anygood nobody knows. But that and calling the automated 800 number is about all you can do.

It varies wildly how long the whole process takes.. Some seem to wait much longer then others with systems that have no backordered items.. Others get theirs in a week.

You'll probably get yours middle-late August... maybe even early September. The new Inspirons/XPS are really getting delayed...
