    Hi,

I've had Dell 1501 for a couple of days. The one had TrueLife display. Now I have to decide, whether I need it, or not. Personally, I think that TrueLife makes it a bit hard to watch darker pictures, because level of reflections is high. Anyway, the colors did not seem to be very bright and nice.

    What would you suggest?

    Thank you

It really depends on what you do. Truelife is great if you do graphic or watch movies. However, on my XPS1210, I've noticed that it does have reflection when used outside or in a brightly lit environment. Either way, I don't see how you could get rid of Turelife now that you have it (unless you return or exchange it that is. That will carry a hefty restocking fee however)

hehe- my dell had faulty configuration, so I got a chance to get anything in the same price range. So, there are 3 nice models:
    Dell 1501 TL50, 1gb, 120gb, 802.11bg and 3 year waranty
same with no truelife, but 802.11abg
and DV6000 with either TL50 or core duo and everything quit the same, but only 1 year warranty. Thanks to you guys, I'll stay with Dell with Truelife (I was almost sure before posting this topic though).

This one isn't even debatable... TrueLife, hands down. I don't care whether you're outside or inside. And it's not like we all sit outside usinng our notebooks all the time. I've used both out on my deck in the summer and TrueLife is still better, though neither is very good in bright sunlight.

I'm sorry, I have to disagree with most of the folks here. I as well own an M1210, and the amount of reflection I get on my screen borders on tedious, even where I live (winter covers our landscapes 'round the year).

If you're out and about in the daylight or in any room with bright lights, it can get in the way of the screen quite a bit. A solution is to angle the screen differently (gets annoying) or to turn up brightness (which reduces battery life, unless you're plugged in).

So it's really up to you, and what environment you think you'll primarily be using the laptop in.

If you are not going to use it outside get a truelife screen but if you going to use it outdoors get a matte screen
