going to buy a dell M90, I have two choices: both have wuxga(1920x1200) screen, but one is a truelife ultrasharp screen, another one not. what's the difference in terms of the screen quality? thanks.

I have a laptop with TureLife and one without and frankly I dont see much of a difference. The matte screen is better for outdoors, and you get better color tones with the glossy screen. I havent had problems with either one. Otherwise, since they have the same resolution, they are basically the same. Sorry I cant be much more helpful :(

I've used both and depending on your need and where you'll be using them - I personally prefer the TrueLife. It's better for watching movies, surfing etc... while in doors. If you're going be out and under the sun, definitely go with the matte screen

Yeah, they say truelife is more media-friendly, and matte is more business = travel-friendly.

The Precision M90 only comes in matte screens. It applies to both WXGA+ & WUXGA for the M90.

I also have both and prefer the matte when I am doing work on it, the truelife screen I have on my laptop at home and use that for watching movies or playing games on. The truelife looks good but the glare is a killer though.

many thanks for your guy's inputs. I've just bought a m90 with matte screen. I will get it in next couple of days. I use it mainly for floating point calculation and computer graphics using opengl. I think the FX 2500M will do it w/ no problems!

Dell has only one good matte screen (unfortanley), and that is LG-Philip (LP171WX2). had first a AU Optronics who was really ****ty (then i had a samsungs matte, also ****ty), then i got the LG-Philip screen, wooahh, much better, and finally i got the new True life, and wwooaaahh again, even better then the LG-Philip.

buy the new True life (1440 x 900), perfect for gaming, etc. cost only ~70 USD more (its really worth it).

Unfortunately the original question was posed for the M90 which doesn't come in a Trulife variety. So your stuck with a matte I believe. If you want Trulife you'll have to down grade to the E1705/9400 or seek another brand.

off course NOT. True life wxga+ is avaiblie to all Dell 17". Part number HU510. (but you have to phone Dell).

just buy one till your M90, and you will get some awesome screen. (like i said before. i have had nearly all of the crapy matte screens Dell have. first AU optronics, then a samsung (for like 5 minutes), then a LG-Philip (only one who was really bright and good), and finally the new True life, (wxga+ off course).

thanks putkinen, the websit is awesome! The dell m90 is expected to be deliveried today, once I got it I will put a simple review of the screen. I also have a HP 1755 LCD (brand new) which has very vivid colour, I will make comparason between 1755 and m90.

like i said. Dell have only one good matte screen, and thats the LG-Philip (wxga+).

Replace your bad screen to the new True life wxga+ (part number HU510). its AWESOME, (perfect for Native gaming also).
