I noticed that the Latitude D505 with the 1350 wireless chipset have a better range than an 1150 with the 1350 wireless chipset.

I wonder if it's the casing of the notebooks affecting the signals. The D505 is thinner and lighter than the 1150.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

My 8600 is great too. I am usually about 50 feet away from a belkin router, with a cieling and several walls in-between, and it still says "excellent" under link quality. It's really nothing to be concerned about. The bigger concern is the quality of the router. From what I have read in PC Magazine, D-link is the best.

My range is excellent with my Inspiron 9100 with built in 1350 802.b/g. I have a D-Link DI-634G wirelss router and the performance is about the same as using D-Link's own DWL-650G wireless g/b card. I got a big range increase when I upgraded to the newest D-Link wireless router, however. The previous one was two years old.

Yes, Linksys got the PC Mag editors choice because of simplicity of configuration. However, D-Link had a much better range by far. That is most important to me, not the ease of configuration. Who are these editors anyway!
