Hi, i have a 5 year old Inspiron 1100, and wanted to do, i guess,a whole system restore for it, and bring it back to factory condition. i dont have the recovery cd for it,and was wondering if anyone knew of a way to do it without the cd. i know for past desktops i had, there was a way i could of restored the system,by pressing several F keys befor start up,is it possible to do with this model??? please help with this issues thanks.

Yes. It's called Dell PC Restore by Symantec. They pretty much put an image of the system state before it was shipped to you on a hidden partition of the hard disk.
To use it, first disconnect any peripherals attatched to the system (keyboards, printers, etc.) and back up all your documents. Make sure you have your CD's/DVD's ready for any software that didn't come with your computer. Turn off the computer, then follow the steps below.
1 Turn on the computer.
2 When the Dell splash screen appears during the computer startup process, press and hold "Ctrl" and then press "F11". Then, release both keys at the same time.
3 In the Dell PC Restore by Symantec window, click Restore.
4 Follow the steps through the restoration wizard
