Just got my M1210 today. Very, very exciting as it's my first laptop (and a long computer needed upgrade in 3 years). Oooh and my first post here too after reading all about the M1210 in this forum for about a month.

    Specs in brief are:

    T7200 Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz
    256 Nvidia Go 7400
    1x 1Gb 667 Ram
    100GB 7200rpm HDD
    Vista Home premium
9 Cell Batt, Logitech Cam and etc

My problem is that since I need to use Pro Tools LE (sound recording software) on my machine so I need to re-install windows XP. Easy enough, it's quite smooth sailing for the installation, except the CD I received had all Vista Drivers from Dell. (Argh!)

So I'm looking around Dell website DLing all the individual drivers that are missing, so that I have to copy to my SD card, and to transfer that to the M1210 (since it doesn't even have wifi drivers)

Anydo, is this the only way around it? is there an easier way around?

Well, you really need to burn those to a CD or USB key. The SD card reader will not work until you install the drivers for them. Chicken and the egg.

Around what, downloading drivers or installing XP. There really are no shortcuts for it, but Dell's website does have all the drivers listed for the M1210 (drivers for both XP and Vista).

Congrats on your new purchase and welcome to the forum, I think you'll enjoy it.

Without any drivers, I'm afraid the only way you can get anything in to your notebook is through USB and DVD rom.

Thanks for your help, I managed to DL quite a number of drivers. Now it's starting to look decent.

Funny enough the media card driver seems to be working straight after installation of windows XP.
