Turkish & English XP Pro on Same Machine.

Hi all, I have just taken delivery of an M1210, and have one or two issues that I need to deal with.

The machine I bought came with Turkish XP Pro installed, from the included Dell CD (this is not dual language, only Turkish). I also had English XP Pro installed, but this was bought separately. The problem is that the bundled programs that came with the Dell TR CD, do not show in the program list when I boot into English, they are all there when booting into Turkish though. I can see them in the Programs folder when using English XP.

Programs such as the Bluetooth controller, wireless console, Roxio, MediaDirect and other bundled programs do not work or show when booting into English. I thought I would be able to just download the program drivers from the Turkish XP CD, when booted into the English XP, after having uninstalled them from the Turkish XP, but it seems that these are zipped and cannot be accessed.

As I understand you are using that XPs in dual boot mode.

If you need to use XP Pro Turkish & English with the same programs you should first install English XP (Enterprise edition required) (see instruction http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=88032), than install turkish MUI so you can easily switch languages through control panel/languages../language tab/select turkish or english than log off/log on.

Is there anyway of disabling the TR XP, making the programs available in ENG, but not uninstalling it or formatting the drive?

 

It is possible but not for all software I think. Reinstalling these programs to Eng XP and than remove Tr XP will be much more simple way of getting what you want .

 

All done. I managed to get hold of a disk with all the programs that come preinstalled, and then installed them into Eng XP.
