We were not furnished with a manual, so my first try on my new Inspiron with Vista has been a bust! I can't turn it off! Screen says it is logging off, but nothing happens. Help needed. Why don't they supply manuals?

    Hello,

My name is Mike, I’m a Technical Analyst located at Dell corporate headquarters in Round Rock, TX. I’m part of an internet outreach team developed to interact with the online community regarding technical questions and issues that customers face with Dell products. I’ve read your post about needing the manual and wanted to point you in the right direction. All manuals for our systems can be found at www.support.dell.com. Click on “Manuals” and then either enter your service tag or select the system type from the drop down menu. Select the language you would like and you will have the option to either download the manual or view it. You will find both the Owner’s Manual and the Service Manual on this page.

The problem that you’ve described most likely won’t be outlined in the manual. The system should not hang on the “logging off” screen for more then a few seconds or so. Since it is a new system there is a chance that it was installing updates which would explain why it took so long to shut down, but if you are still experiencing this problem or if you have any other questions please feel free to email me at [email protected] with this topic in the subject line, ATTN: Mike B. (I6400 manual/shutdown), and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

    Thank you,

    Mike
