I have opened my m140 a few times and it came right on...I could have sworn I shut it down the normal way...hit the button, then click turn off....did I do something wrong? Did I close the lid too soon? I'd hate to think I'm putting my computer away in the laptop bag and it is still on....

I hit the main power button which asks me what I want to do (shut down, standby, hibernate, restart)..I click shut down and close the screen...maybe clsoing the screen too early leaves it in standby?

Disable the close lid feature by doing:

    Right click on your desktop/ Properties/ screensaver/ power/advanced/

Choose WHEN I CLOSE THE LID OF COMPUTER : DO NOTHING. That will helps.
