    Hey everyone,

I have had my xps m140 for about 6 months. When a first got it, everytime i closded it the screen would turn off (not hibernate or stand by). About a month ago my when i closed the lid, the screen would still be on. Does anyone have a solution for me, to turn the screen off then the lid is closed??

    thanks guys

I heard something about graphics drivers can also control the screen being turned off. Try another graphics driver and see if it turns off when you close the lid.

When you closed the lid, only the screen would turn off? The system would still be running?

Have you done any Microsoft updates recently?

you probably just changed the power settings. Check the settings and make sure the "close lid" setting is the way you want; hibernate, standby, nothing

quickset might have some effect on that. I've found that i get that from time to time with my i6000 and i have no idea what causes it.

In my case (E1505 with ATI), the problem was the ATI HotKey service, which has to be aways running.... Maybe there is something similar on your system.

Anyway, why don't they have a little switch to turn off the screen whenever the lid is closed, like in many other laptops? :p
