I have it set in my power options for my E1705's screen to turn off after 1 minute of inactivity, which is fine by me. But I can't figure out for the life of me how to turn the thing back on! Any ideas?

Don't quite understand your question - are you saying that the screen won't turn back on after it has turned off? If the screen doesn't turn back on after repeated mouse taps/keyboard taps, you'll have to do a compelete shut down of your notebook by holding the power button for 5-10 seconds. Try a reboot about a minute after the notebook shuts down and see if your notebook is working properly.

Another thing you might want to try; close the lid down so that it latches and open it back up again. It brought mine out of the 'blank screen' when the mouse taps or keys didn't work. Which I find rather fishy to have to do that, it's happened twice so far; guess I have to monitor for any other quirks.

Depending on your settings, you might have it set to go into standby. If that's the case, then you just hit the power button.

Otherwise, you should be able to move the mouse or hit a key like AMD suggested.

I have the same problem, if it goes into standby, the only way to "wake" it is to close the lid (which is set to Hibernate on my e1705), then power back on.

What I did was went into Power Options>Advanced and then for the 'When I close the lid of my portable computer' drop down menu , I chose 'Do nothing'. So if the mouse click or keyboard doesn't bring the screen back up, a lid close-open recycle does the trick, without it going to hibernate/standby.
