Puzzling... can you figure it out?
I have a brand new e1705
vsita ultimate 32 bit
T7200
2 gig ram 667mhz
250 gig hdd 5400rpm
intel wireless n
linksys 350n router
When i first got the computer, with factory defaults, I was downloading from web sites like betanews.com, and filehippo.com at speeds of 300 up to 1MB per second.
Usually it would start at 1 MB then drop slowly down to 300KB sec.
Most of the time the download would finish in a couple seconds.
I could pull a 5 MB file in like 10 seconds.
I decided to format and perform a clean install of vista.
I did so, installed all the latest drivers from the manufactures and dell's site where applicable.
Everything runs smoothly.
However, when I download now, the same files... it never goes past 300 KB sec.
Usually it starts at 50 KB and slowly moves upward towards 300KB, but most of the time lingers around 200KB or so, and rarely tops at 300KB. Or, it would start at around 300KB then drastically drop down to speeds between 25-100 KB sec.
So what would cause this? What settings dill Dell apply to the factory defaults make this huge of a difference? I would like to make that change in my setup so I can download again at 1MB per second speeds. That was hot!
I tried turning the autotuning feature in vista off but that did not help.
Any help would be appriciated! thx

Your download speeds are typically NOT dependant on your OS, but on your ISP. What level of service are you paying for. You may be only paying for a 3mbs line. Your bandwidth is also dependant on the servers that you are downloading from. Increased traffic will mean a slow download. GL
