Hey! I'm glad I found this forum.
I got my new 1520 (my second one) last week. I did a fresh install of Vista Home Premium, and Bluetooth wasn't working. I followed the tips I found here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=161326
And got it working. BUT... what doesn't work is the Bluetooth Stereo feature. I have the Motorola HT820 stereo bluetooth headset, and the thing works GREAT on my other 1520, which has the factory Dell Vista installation. It just doesn't work on this one, and I'm wondering what I have to do to get it to work.
The reason for two 1520's is that the other one runs Linux 99.9% of the time, and then I got this one to run Windows, so I don't have to keep booting between the two OS's, since as a software developer, I often use both. So I got the first 1520 back in September, and then ordered this new one, spec'd identically except for blue instead of black, and got it last week.
Next problem... unrelated to Bluetooth as far as I can tell anyway. When rebooting, it will start to come up (I get the little pulsing bar at the bottom of the screen shortly after the BIOS/Dell page), and then it blue screens. It says, "your computer has been shut down to prevent damage."
If I power it off, then reboot, it's fine. Likewise, if I choose Shutdown and let it power completely off, then turn it back on, it doesn't blue screen. It ONLY happens when I try to restart.
This began sometime over the past couple of days as I was installing updates from Windows Update. Problem is, I couldn't tell you which ones. I've run a chkdsk /f and it hasn't helped.
Thanks!!
Rob

Fixed one of the problems. Note this article:

I switched my HD mode from AHCI to ATA. That cured that one.
So now it's the Bluetooth stereo issue, and another issue I forgot to mention... the screensaver won't ever come on, and the screen never powers off. I've modified the settings everywhere I can find 'em and it's still the case. Even on Power Saver mode on battery with the screen set to go off after 2 min, it won't do it. I haven't tested to see if the thing goes into standby, or if it's just the display that's refusing to cooperate.
