I'm trying to get x2 RAM modules in an Inspiron 1545 but I don't see how. Any clues? :)

... by opening up the bottom panel and installing the two DIMMs? Does your 1545 not have two memory slots or something?

The Inspiron 1545 definitely has two slots, which should be right next to each other. Fragilexx would know more.

I think he hasn't opened it up, because both dimms are plainly visible, even with the cover still on the bottom.

Undo the 4 screws holding the big panel on the bottom and pull it off.

I honestly don't see room for two DIMMs. Anyone have pics?

They're located right on top of each other. It's impossible to miss.

Then either you're missing it, or you're not talking about the Inspiron 1545. Dell Latitudes have one RAM slot under the keyboard.

No, but from the service manual:

All Inspirons are designed like this. It'd probably be easier if you opened the bottom of you laptop and took a picture. We can point out where the memory slots are.

Ahhhhh, dammit - that black, offset slot that's not entirely obvious! :D

    Thanks. :)

Have installed 3Gb (2/1) now but it's not recognising the 1Gb DIMM. :( 64bit OS.

...yeah - put the 1Gb DIMM on the bottom... I'll get my coat...

    :D :) Cheers all.

Haha, glad you got it worked out eventually. I liked my old Studio 1535's design better, with the two DIMM slots horizontally opposed. This new 1555 has em stacked one on top of the other like that.
