This isn't anything out of the ordinary, I'm sure
but my first 1555 has a Hitachi 320gb HDD, 7200RPM, and the second has a Scorpio black by Western Digital, 320gb/7200rpm
any reason to use the scorpio black over the Hitachi? I'd have to make a disk image and transfer it to the new one if I did.

I've always had better experiences with Western Digital drives than Hitachi. The WD drives I've owned tend to run quieter than the Hitachis. That said, I've never had either brand fail on me.
I would guess that your new Scorpio Black will run a bit quieter than the Hitachi it's replacing, but you won't notice much other difference. -
i almost never hear the hitachi
Two Studio 1555s, two different HDD brands
