    Hey guys...

I got the e1705 (i9400) and... I just saw something like strange in the power and MD buttons and I would like to know if Dell changed those to be like this or it's a defect... :(

Well, in others e1705 I've already seen, the notebook buttons are solid and it goes straight down right in the middle, but mine in the power button, It's like going down to left side and the right just goes a little bit... The MD button has the same thing, but looks a little bit better than the power button. So,... It's normal??

And about the software... I formated and got a clean install, but now I forgot which are the main Dell utility that's good to have, could you guys tell me those??

    Thanks

1.) What you describe is normal. It may be a fitment issue but the buttons are circles with tabs joining them to the case. (kind alike this -O) and if it's not exactly centered over the rubber button beneath (that actually activates power and MD) it may feel "off". You can try to remove that plastic piece and line it up better yourself. Be careful and use some type of flat thing (like a screw driver) in that gap above the top right of the keyboard by the right hinge.

2.) Quickset. Pick your OS here and choose the proper D/L.

    Thx for reply "vespoli".

I thought in open and see if I can fit it better, but I was thinking like "let me ask before, if It's normal or It's some kind of defected unit/issue", but ok.

    Also thanks for Quickset link!

I don't know how much better you'll be able to make it...but why not try. As long as you are careful you won't break anything. Dell has a guide on their website. www.support.dell.com on how to take apart the whole computer. I think if you follow their directions to remove the keyboard one of the first things they will show you how to do is remove the piece I am talking about.

    Cheers

My M1710 buttons are exactly as you describe them - the power button depresses a bit further on the left side.
