    Hi,
anyone ordered either of these recently? Has the graininess issue improved? Anyone had any success in specifying a particular make of screen during the ordering process?
    Thanks

You cannot order with specific manufacturer parts on a Dell.

Sales person may tell you anything to sell though.

I think those two combinations are do fairly well. The wxga+ usually looks ok on the 1700.. but only on that size screen. The regular wxga generally gets good comments on the 1500 as well.

I got my third vostro today (UK) and screen is better than the earlier ones but not upto the mark. Same dull AUO screen with the CPU whine, clicking hard disk. Tired of calling CS but no other go...

I got my Vostro 1700 about three weeks ago and the screen is awesome. No grainyness here. No CPU whine either.
