They are still processing the payment and I want to cancel it and order a new penryn based laptop. Will they let me cancel it and if I do how can I be sure they won't charge me on my credit card? I tried phoning them but they said their business section is shut for the day! Help

The laptop I ordered is a:
    T7250
    3gb RAM
    1440*900 Trulife Screen
    8600gt 256mb
    160gb 5400rpm HD

For £10 less today I can get:
    T8300
    3gb RAM
    1440*900 Trulife Screen
    8600gt 256mb
    250gb 5400rpm HD

i think they hold the funds on your CCard as soon as the order is placed and charge the card when they ship.

you should be able to cancel. if not, when you get it, don't accept delivery and ask for a refund.

Yeah, you can cancel no problem, they can reorder the new one for you right over the phone in the same conversation too.

still , the T7250 is fast enough for most of things and T8300 is not much faster than the T7250 either.

No need to worry about it.

You will see much better newer Penryn in a few months and so wait till they get out.

I think current Penryns are designed to stay in market very very short period of time like the fist released Meroms were in 2007.

Remeber the T5300, T5500, T7200 these were replaced so soon after the newer verion of meroms like T7250, T7300 and T7500 came out with the Santa Rosa chip set.

The same thing will happen to the T8100, T8300 , t9300 and T9500, I am really gald not get any of them.

Why do we need to get a bit newer designed CPU with 3 mb L2cache when a bit older CPU with 4 mb L2C is much cheaper and faster?

The new Penryns coming and they are much better than Meroms but current version of Penryns , given the price of them , why do you even bother?

I saw many benchmarks of them and no tests show me the current Penryns are mcuh better than similar T7xxx models of Memorms.

Before that, I was thinking of getting the T8300 or T9300 , but it is not worth it, especially now since we all know that the new Penryns with 1066mhz FSB are coming in a few months.

Just wait the new platform with new Penryns.

Cancel and reorder. If not for no other reason than to feel better.

It's only been one day. Dell is still thinking about your order.

It was very easy, I just phoned up and they offered to let me change the order over the phone or just to cancel it and re-order online. Good stuff.

But then my credit card phoned up asking if I was responsible for the suspicious activity on my account and telling me they had declined the payment. I explained it was OK and they said I would have to get Dell to put another request for payment in. So I have and it should be resolved now. Phew!

good to hear, would be annoyed if i was in the same situation and couldn't change it, even if it is just for the longer battery life and less heat output.

Let's not forget, for 10 quid less they are also now getting an extra 90GB's of HDD. So well worth the call regardless of Penryn.

Well spotted 'dragooon', you can guarantee that Dell would have gone through with the original specification had you not kept your eyes peeled. Smart move.
