i got the track # of my laptop from dell 4days ago. from the tracking info on ups site, it says that my package is on time with a scheduled delivery date of 03/13/2007 (tomorrow). however, the problem is there's no update in the package progress section except an original scan displayed. i was wondering if any of you has a similar experience with ups like this. can i get my laptop tomorrow?
thanks

Don't worry. I've had UPS deliver a package with no updates after picking it up from the shipper. And calling them up for an update doesn't help. They're totally clueless. UPS sucks bigtime!

UPS sucks? Have you ever tried FedEx? Now THEY suck.
FedEx doesn't have a clue as to what "Please hold my package at the station, I won't be at my house." means. -
Actually yes. I had to do that with Fed Ex when I was back in Spokane, WA. They held it every time with no problem. UPS wouldn't do that until the 3 delivery attempts were made, then they'll hold it for 5 days before shipping it back to the sender.

Don't panic yet, you'll most likely see the destination scan tomorrow morning. Dell has some sort of strange shipping arrangement with shipping companies and I've seen this happen many times myself. I always end up getting my stuff on time from UPS.

Sometimes being in the dark is a good thing. At least this hasn't happened to you: I had shipping updates when my 1705 was on its way. The dumb UPS guy went next door twice while I was at home! I just happened to check the UPS site when I saw the package was being sent back to Dell!! After a very angry call to UPS, I was contacted by my local UPS warehouse and told the package would be re-delivered the next day. Uhh, no thanks. I drove up and picked it up.
I wish Dell would switch to DHL or FedEx for all of their shipments. I had a replacement battery shipped from Dell and it came via DHL, less than one day after an email help ticket was submitted. *Gasp* -
thanks for the info, guys!
i did call the ups customer service. "there's nothing else we can do for you right now except waiting" - the most "useful" information they provided. that just sucks!
anyway, i'm gonna check the delivery status tomorrow morning. if it's still "on-time" and no progress updated, do you guys think it's worth a wait at home tomorrow? any advice is welcome
thanks again! -
Having worked in the shipping department of a major internet shopping site. I will say that UPS is by far the best of all shipping companies. Of millions of packages that goes out every year by UPS, FedEx, DHL and USPS. UPS has the lowest percentages of problems and UPS are much easier to deal with. FedEx offer what seem like very attractive contracts, but they are too damn sneaky with hidden fuel surcharge rules and etc. And you'll be surprised of what they'll do to get around Fed. rules. They are a dishonest company as far as I'm concerned based on a lot of stuff I've seen them do. DHL is own and subsidized by the German government and they are growing fast, but far from being good here in the states. USPS is cheap for certain weight and sized items, but tracking them are the worst.

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
They all vary by location, UPS is terrible at my apartment, no matter how many times I tell them, they simply leave any and every package at my door, the driver forges my signiture, I've looked it up online, I've brought it up in person at the main hub, made countelss calls, and they wont do anything about it, DHL is even worse, the drivers can be bothered to actually go to the front door, they leave it lying OUTSIDE in front of the community mail boxes, some crackhead down the street actually found my vista upgrade package, and was going door to door trying to sell it.

Use fedex from now on

UPS has been just fine for me. But USPS is another story - they apparently don't know how to ring my doorbell and just leave my packages at the PO so I have to pick them up.

Congratulations, now you'll have many more long days playing with your new laptop. Enjoy.
