I recommend getting hold of all the installation files for your programs, put them, and the files you want to keep into the 2nd partition, then reformat the whole thing, and reinstall everything again.

I dont have a DELL (yet), so I dont know what media direct does, but if its not on the PC after you format and re-install Vista, then yes, you will need to re-install it!

If you don't reinstall mediadirect you save 1-2GB of HDD space but in return your mediadirect button doesn't work if you press it.

If you have another partition, you can safely leave your files on that partition as you will only wipe the c drive. else, get an external hard drive to keep your files backed up to.

    1. Copy required data and softwares to an optical disc.
    2. Reboot computer with Vista disc
    3. Delete all partitions and create a single Primary Partition and format it.
    4. Continue with Vista installation.
    5. Transfer copied data and softwares to hard disk from optical disc.
