Anyone out there have any suggestions on this? My fiancee just recently bought a i700m. Came with XP home and a bunch of junk that cluttered up the desktop and harddrive. I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled XP Pro. After installation, I had a bunch of yellow question marks. Long story short, after downloading every driver on the internet, the USB ports DO NOT WORK. I couldn't find a driver to save my self, but why should I, every other time I've reinstalled XP pro the USB drivers have been a part of XP. I spent over two hours on the phone with Dell and had to go to class, they were not very helpful. They tried hard, but it's still not working.

I have two parent items under device manager named USB Controller, but one has a yellow question mark, and the other has 6 child items (USB Root Hub, Etc.) I DLed the Intel Drivers and tried that with no luck. Basically the USB ports don't work which means no printer.

Also I have noticed that the autorun feature hasn't worked yet since the reinstall (I had to burn the ethernet controller driver to a CD to even be able to get to the internet).

Finally, she bought some controller that is supposed to cotrol dvds and such via a USB sensor. I called dell and asked for my driver CD's and such. Will the program that uses the Controller (I think it was a Dell media program be included)? I have never been so frustrated in my life.

Any suggestion or answers to mainly the first two questions would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't tried the updates yet, I'll give that a whirl, although I'm not sure what the updates would do, but hey I can give it a shot!

I already reinstalled the intel drivers to no avail. Thanks for the suggestion though

Windows Update can sometimes find a better driver. My T42s usb ports didn't work after installing XP and IBM's driver. Used Windows Update to get the correct one.
