I use a USB hub to connect all my devices through 1 usb port. I have a usb hard drive, usb sound card, mouse/keyboard, and a printer in it. anyways, when i unplug my laptop from them say to go wireless for a while, when i return to my desk and plug them back in, they arent recognized. vista does nothing. they wont work until i restart the pc, then they work fine. I have removed the usb controllers and reinstalled them and that didnt work. any suggestions?

Try making the necessary changes under power options.
Then, go to the device manager, right click USB controllers, go to properties, power management, and uncheck "Allow computer to turn off device to save power" -
thanks, i tried that but it was a no go.

ok i just realized this goes for vga out as well...wtf vista!
btw im only using drivers supplied from dells website. i had this problem before, and did a fresh reinstall last night and still having the problem. -
This also happens to me. I just unplug the hub and plug that back in. Then all is well again. But this is with XP

I guess it is just one more fault on Vista's list.

Since it happens on xp also, this must not be a vista only problem. that actually helps a lot. I wonder if its the chipset drivers.
