    Hi folks,

I'm awaiting an I9200 mobo & chassis assembly I bought on ebay for 200+ bucks. I already have everything needed for the LCD screen assembly, including a brand new Samsung WUXGA. I'm going to assemble this 9200 for my wife (my primary computer is still my two+ year old I9200).
The chassis also came with no CPU, HDD, ROM, RAM, etc... but I have everything but the CPU, so I bought a 2.0 GH Dothan. I'll upgrade my laptop with that, and put my 1.8 into the one I'm building. It'll have an 80 GB HDD, CD-RW/DVD ROM, and 256 MB RAM, and W2kPro to start off with. I'll keep buying upgrades for it here and there till it's satisfactory for my wife.

The only problem is that the USB ports supposedly don't work. The seller is sending a PCMCIA usb card with it, and it's not a big deal as far as my wife is concerned, but I wondered just what the possibility of fixing that was.
I Googled & found an IBM Think pad rant thread ( not here or on NBF) where users were complaining about toasted USB systems. That kind of worried me. It seemed like many of them had burnt out after Ipods were plugged in, or abruptly unplugged.
Surprisingly I found very little info on this about the 9x00s.

    Thanks for any input.
