The USB speed in my studio system, when copy files. This laptop supports USB2.0 so I should get around 12Mbytes/sec but I only get 3Mbytes/sec. I'm sure the usb disk I used supports USB2.0 because I got 12Mbytes/sec if tested on other laptops/computers. I have this system from 3 years recently noted this problem. I doubt it is a port fault on the motherboard ?

    Hi,

I suggest you to run Disk Defragmentation on the laptop hard drive. Fragmented data on the hard drive may reduce the data transfer speed. For information on how to optimize Windows, please visit the following link:

You can also refresh and re-install the USB drivers to make sure that no other device has captured the USB port of the computer. Please follow the steps provided below:

    1. Click “Start” and type “Device Manager” in “Start” Search and press Enter.
    2. In the Device Manager window, click on the arrow left of “Universal Serial Bus controllers”
    3. Right click on each “USB Root Hub” and click on “Uninstall” to uninstall them.
    4. Restart the computer.

This will refresh the drivers and would help to increase the USB transfer speed.

I hope this helps. Please do write back in case you need any further assistance.

    Thanks & Regards
    Swapnajan MC
