Hey Guys,
I just got my 9300. I have the XGA+ screen. I'm not sure if it's defective or if this is just how it is. It seems like it's bright in the middle like in a circle but darker on the outside. It also seems like it's being "pinched in" at the bottom. I was checking my Hotmail account today and they make the New Messages you receive in like a pale yellow. With my laptop screen, no matter what reasonable ange it is at, I couldn't tell the difference between white and the yellow. I also couldn't see the faint lines that are in between the listings of threads on this forum.
My question is: Since obviously graphic design is important to me, does the UXGA with Truelife have the same problems? Or does it show the color more vibrantly and can you see the faint colors.
I know alot has been brought up about the different screens, but all I could find was people talking about the resolution. I don't mind the small text... right now I'm using 1600x1200 on my desktop. SORRY IF THIS HAS BEEN ASKED IN ANOTHER THREAD!!
Thanks for your help!

The truelife does bring out the colors alot. If you are talking about photoshop, the wuxga is great for that.

Well the resolution on your screen if you get the UXGA the resolution is 1900x1200....there are a few things about both screens.
UXGA
1) Glossy...tends to be brighter and crisper.
2) Tends to reflect alot of stuff.
3) Can't play many games on native rez.
XGA+
1) Lower rez...harder to see in direct sunlight.
2) Can play games mostly on native rez.
There are more, I am sure you will get alot more opinions. -
Hey CCBR01... Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, Studio 8 (Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Contribute), etc...

USAFDUDE, from what I posted do you think the screen is defective? What would you recommend based on the type of work that I do? Also, do you have the same thing where you can't really see the faint lines/colors with the XGA+? Thanks

I use the Studio MX 2004 that I got from my teacher last year. Also from my old yearbook class, I use Photoshop 7.0 and Indesign 2.0. It all great with the wuxga. You can see both pages with Indesign, and if you have to, you can always zoom in. I do have to say that USAF dude is right, it reflects stuff, but that is if a light is shining onto the screen. I don't have my light shining onto the screen, so I am fine in that department.

I read the post wrong LOL....I can see lines just fine. There is a slight blending of off-white and white.

CCBR01, with the UXGA, can you see the lighter colors other than white and the faint lines that I'm talking about? I'm trying to figure out if I have a defective screen or if it's just with every XGA+?

That's alright USAF, I really appreciate your help
. USAF, do you use Hotmail? If so, can you tell the difference in the color of the new messages and read messages in your inbox? (new messages are in pale yellow). Thanks!

Faint lines, are you talking about lines in pictures or a defect in your screen.

I think he is talking like differences in colors on the screen, such as a website with white and off-white right next to each other.

Oh, ok. Yes then, I can see the colors and lines perfectly. WUXGA and Counter-Strike:Source are made for each other when it comes to little details like that. If you do upgrade to the WUXGA, you will enjoy it.

Lines in pictures... like the lines in between the listings of threads on this forum... (I can see them on my desktop screen but not on my XGA+ Laptop screen)
-
You will see them perfectly with the wuxga. Great screen it is.
-
yeah, regardless of resolution, you should be able to see anything that you would normally see on any other monitor/lcd. barring some setting that you are missing that is doing that on purpose, i would say there's a problem.
maybe you can post a pic? -
Hey everyone:
I went into the NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 settings. I can see the colors I was talking about now. I moved the contrast down from 100% to 80% and the Gamma setting down from 1.00 to 0.80. The screen doesn't look as vibrant now, but I am able to see the colors better. What I'll do is go downstairs to my desktop computer (I have that hooked up to a Dell 20.1" FP) and tweak the settings until I can get them to look as close as possible. I think I still might need to get a replacement of the screen from Dell because of the "pinching effect" look at the bottom. The light leak really isn't an issue though.
I'm still thinking about the UXGA though. I'll go down to Best Buy and take a look at some there with the gloss. -
Update: I turned Digital Vibrance on Low and it looks great! I like the screen now!
UXGA w/Truelife good for Web Design/Photo Editing/Graphic Work
