    Hi,

I own a Dell Inspiron 1720 and I want to install Ubuntu 8.04 either x86 or x64 as the sole OS on my laptop.

Could anyone confirm what support is available for me and where I could get the neccessary files for it to work on my laptop.

    Thanks, Chris.

Chris, you should see just about everything working after you install. My M1730 is completely supported by Ubuntu 7.10 and, I assume, 8.04.

I have an Intel based wireless card which works perfectly, but I not sure about other makes. Wireless support used to be quite poor with Linux but it seems to be OK now.

If anything, your 1720 should be better supported than my new-fangled 1730!
