    Gurus,

I am all set to order DELL Inspiron E1505 m/c But little confuesd b/w two below choices.

    1. 15.4 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife™ ($77 EXTRA)
    2. 15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA Display with TrueLife™ [Included in Price]

Basically the only thing is you get a 1680x1050 resolution with the ultrasharp. The XGA w/ Truelife is 1280x800. Both have a glossy coating on the screen. There is much more room on the screen with the ultrasharp, but the icons and text are much smaller.

Also another difference is the view angle. With the second option, you'll get a wider viewing angle.

I love my Ultrasharp screen. The colors are fantastic - all other LCD screens look dull after using my laptop. I wouldn't choose any other screen.

personally I love truelife, but not everyone does. I strongly recommend to go to a Dell Kiosk (if one is near your) to view the truelife screens. If there is not a location near you, then go to Best Buy or somewhere that has laptop, and look at the glossy screens. You'll get the feel for what you'll be getting, but it won't be the exact same. The truelife screens are not the best on the block. Sony/Fujitsu have the best screens, but at least you can get an idea of what it will be like.

According to his post, both screens are truelife. The only difference is the resolution.

Or am I missing something here?

Truelife=glossy, much clearer, but with glare issues.

I personally love true-life. I've used Matte screens until the SZ and the 1705 and I won't go back.....

All else being equal (assuming screen quality is the same) you should see no difference in view angle or brightness with the two screens. The more expensive one simply has a higher resolution.

Yes, both options are Trulife only the resolutions are different. Remember you can always lower your resolution if you opted for the higher one to begin with and can't go the other way, getting a lower res and hoping to go up. So the extra 75 might be a worthwhile invesment esp. if you need to fit a lot of items on your desktop or have multiple windows open and would like to see as much as possible
