I've noticed that dell used to offer ultrasharp screens at wxga+, wsxga, and wuxga resolutions. Then they got rid of the wxga+ ultrasharp option and replaced it with just wxga+. Looks like they've done the same for wsxga as well now, it no longer holds the ultrasharp moniker.

Is there a difference between the two panels, specifically at wxga+ (1440x900) resolution? My 6400 states that it has a "15.4 inch UltraSharp Wide Screen WXGA+ Display with TrueLife" whereas my vostro states that it has "15.4 in Wide Screen XGA+LCD Display w/TrueLife™" ( GU429 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 15.4WXGA+, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC., TLF, AU OPTRONICS CORP )

When I ordered my vostro, it was advertised as an ultrasharp panel. I have the screenshot showing so if I need to back it up. I got the ultrasharp because all of the information that I could find about it suggested that the viewing angle was superior to a standard panel. Its pretty obvious that the viewing angles leave something to be desired. I've compared to my 2005FP which is obviously a better monitor, but the viewing angles on it are far far superior.

Any thoughts? Does anyone know the actual difference? Documentation backing it up would be superb.

Forgot to mention that I no longer have the 6400, otherwise I'd do some side-by-side comparisons.

i can't stand 1440x900. i used that resolution at work...

at home i either use 1920x1200 on my desktop or 1680x1050 on my laptop and workstation.

I have a "High Resolution, glossy widescreen 14.1 inch display (1440x900)" in my 1420.

How do I find out the rest of the details for my monitor?
