I want to give Windows 7 a try on my 1737 right now it runs excellent and super fast on the Core 2 Duo T9400 6MB cache 1066 FSB and ATI 3650.

So everyone says Windows 7 Beta is even faster, than Vista I want to see this first hand.

I a running Vista 64-bit if that makes a difference.

Is there an official Microsoft link somewhere? to download it.

I think you have to part of the Developer's network to download it.

Let us know how it goes. I would try it out, but I would prefer to do it on a test machine which I don't have an extra at the moment.

Are you provided with an activation key during installation, or prior to download?

Prior to download. The installation functions like Vista when it comes to keys. You can install it without a key and use it for 30 days before you need to add a key and activate.

I wouldn't use it as a main OS. It is unstable on my machine while Vista is perfectly stable and about as fast.

So downloading directly from those links that were posted doesn't take me through the process to get a key?

Does it matter if you use the key you get for a 32-bit or 64-bit install?

Keep in mind in the past, betas expired. Attempting to use it as your main OS could suddenly leave you with having to reinstall vista with little warning when the beta no longer runs.
