I have a Inspiron 6000 notebook and am recently having a problem where my fan is constantly making a clicking noise. I have tried cleaning it out and opened it up to try and get all of the gunk out, but it still constantly sounds like it is grinding. I wanted to update my BIOS and see if that does anything, and when I tried to it says you must have AC Adapter and Battery plugged in to update BIOS. My battery is always plugged in and when I unplug my laptop the battery does work. I just noticed when I go into the power management options In BIOS it says Battery not Installed and in the power options in windows it says that I do not have a battery in. It even tells me that even when I unplug my computer that it is still running on AC Power. This also made me realize that the last couple of months whenever I ran on battery power the computer never notified me about the battery running out. I was wondering what you guys think I should do? Thanks for the help

try checking all the connectors are clean and free of dust, dont know if it'll help but you never know. Also how long does it last on battery power.

i cleaned the battery connectors and it didnt fix the problem. I replaced my battery once before because my original battery was recalled. Ive had this battery now for about a year and a half and its gone from working for 2 hours to about 20 mintues now.

what was your solution to the problem? Unfortunately I got the same.

have you tried your battery on other laptop with the same model?

Do you have a "Batteries" entry in Device Manager?
Does it show any problems?
