    Hi,

I'm trying to install Vista. Its gone all wierd on me. Its my new m1330 dell, so I have formatted the drive partition Vista was originally on, installed x64 on it then now trying to re-install x64 again so I can put the AHCI on from the start.

    I have the following:

Disk 0 Unallocated Space 78mb<which I cannot merge with unallocated below
    Disk 0 Partition 1 RECOVERY
    Disk 0 Unallocated Space 285gb
Disc 0 Partition 2 Mediadirect (Logical)

Now when I create the 285gb section as a partition I cannot install windows as it gives me the error "windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation."

So it's borked. How do I fix this and get it to install? And how do I merge the Unallocated space?

I have exhausted the google search engine so far. Really need this going for uni ASAP. Someone somewhere else suggested I delete the recovery partition and merge it with the 285gb unallocated, is that possible and will it fix this?
