Hi I have a studio 1558 with ATI mobility 4570. Has any1 tried undervolting it? If so how?
-
Unfortunately there is no way to undervolt the 4570 that I know of.
Software or otherwise. -
It's very easy to undervolt the HD4570. Get ATI Tray Tools and you can select a whole range of GPU/memory frequencys and voltage from the Overclocking Page. I'm running my HD4570 @ 200/250MHz on 0,6V (I added a custom VID, as the lowest officially supported is 0,9V!) in 2D mode - the GPU is 5°C cooler with that setting than with default mode! In 3D mode my card runs stable at 800/1000MHz on 1,2V.
-
1.2 V for 3D is default anyway right? did u try reducing that?? n u use a studio 15?
-
I can run the default setting (680/800MHz) on 1,1V. Lower voltages are unstable.
I have to add that I have a ThinkPad SL510, with only 256MB of GDDR3 which seems to have higher specs (I don't think anyone with 512MB has been able to reach 1GHz memory clock).
For any kind of dektop work or DVD watching 200/250MHz is more than enough and it runs on an incredible 0.6V! Gives some additional battery life. -
(studio 1555, 4570 512mb)
edit: damn, the modified voltage does not actually apply ;( -
I tried AMD gpu clock tool and I could undervolt to 1.1 V in 3D mode and overclocked to 750MHz/850MHz.. its very stable and reaches peak temps of 95 degrees usually..
@Darkstone are u using a dell studio?? -
yes, 1555 model (p8600)
-
I have the 1555 too.
Just installed Ati tray tools, that's what i have in the Hardware->Overclock settings, is this normal??
My aim is to reduce the gpu temp, do you have any suggestion?
I read about the custom VID (or VDDC?) of 0.6V, where can i find it? -
@Darkstone how stable is it wen u overclock memory to 1000Hz? i tried it yesterday n i could see black spot on COD-BO menu screen itself!
-
of course, this depends on the quality of your VRAM, you might have gotten a bad model.
(i used to run at 800/1010, but somehow that stopped working after my windows reïnstall) -
@Darkstone: It won't accept any voltage higher than 1,2V. Lower voltages than 0,9V work fine for me.
@MarkraM: Click on the "..."-Button right to the VID select box. It brings up a dialogue where you can enter custom VIDs. You have to enter them in mV, so "600" is 0,6V. You can select those custom VID from the drop down afterwards.
Btw. GDDR ram may have differing specs. Mine works up to 1070MHz (that's where the mem scan begins to show artefacts), so I guess it's PC1066. Unfortunately only 256MB of it -
it works even if i enter 0.1v... -
0.1V? hehe then its not working is it??
Try AMD GPU Clock tool it accepts just 1.1 or 1.2 V and it seems to lower the temperature.. -
However i'm totally new to ATT and maybe i haven't done something necessary but...
After i selected different voltage, core & memory frequences, i click on Apply, but everything turns to the default values... -
and i used amd gpu clock tool before, i did only recently found out that ati tray tools exists
