Hello, I have order issues with Dell. I bought Dell studio 1558 (i7 740qm , 4gb ddr3 1333hz, 500gb HDD, full HD 1080p display) laptop on 22/09/10 and until this day waiting for delivery. Frankly my laptop is not even near assembly line. It's still in pre-production stage after a month of waiting. So please forum people maybe you know better why does customer have to wait more then a month for his purchase. That's just BS.

Dell rep explains that they don't have Full HD display for this laptop, and that it was back ordered. Quote "Follow-up has been made on thsi order and I'm constantly monitoring and checking progress of this order. As of now I cannot promise you anything nor confirm you the estimated date given. One thing I can tell that we are aware of this and working to fullfill the order for you."

Then I asked where do they getting they displays from I got this: "Sorry to hear that your computer order was delayed due to supply constraints. Dell uses multiple manufacturers for our LCD monitors in our laptops to ensure we can ship our laptops as quickly as possible. Our suppliers prefer to remain nameless. They are making every effort help us get your computer to you as quickly as possible."

So what they are saying that my laptop can be shipped to me next month, or next year or next millennium, no insurance for terms or end dates. And after one month or waiting already I starting to loose my patience cause I need new machine for my work I'm not in mood to wait another month. Therefore I thinking maybe I should go with Sony Vaio F12 ( Product's URL address) not considering it's 200 pounds more expensive.

So what do you people think should I cancel Dell and go with Sony ? ? ?

Your laptop is built to order. Parts go out of stock. It happens. It sounds like you may have already made up your mind, but keep in mind that Sony may have delays for the same or other reasons. If you want it today, go to BB.

Ok I can understand that sometimes sobody get "lucky" and their order goes into back order. But the point here for me being unhappy with dell customer's service is that they not even trying to explain why the order is on hold and well does it gonna be delivered at least approx :( How can they not know when they will gonna recieve parts from this laptop ??? And there is dozen of threads in internet about people forced to wait for three months for their purchase. That's not acceptable :p

About Sony Vaio f12 is that it's in store, I can just go and take it without any wait :( But as I said the only thing stoping me from doing so is that sony is 200 pounds more then Dell. Thats why I really want to have this dell studio 1558, but Dell service not even trying to estimate the delivery date. What they saying "you will get it when you get it, stop spaming and wait..." . Do you think is normal ? ? ? Is that how manufacturar should threat its customer ????

I had to wait 3 weeks for my Studio 1558. This is due partly to purchase limits. The overseas (China) manufacturer will not give Dell a good, target price, until a certain amount of laptops are purchased. So, it takes Dell longer to hit that number. Either the number is hit and they send it, or they wait a pre-determined amount of time... It sucks... (I was reading about this somewhere online. I think it was Foxconn or someone like that, being sticklers).

Hi. Hmm if the things you are saying is true, then it's just plain awfull ...{"(%"(£")£!£ bad words goes here "R% %"£} thing. At least what they could provide is Estimated Date of hitting right number for assemble :)

Anyway hows your machine are you happy with it, did you had any kind of troubles ???
