Well once I got my XPS 1530 about a week ago I was really excited and happy that it came in. The box was hastily opened and all the contents were extracted instantly. Happy as I was, I gleed pretty much like a school girl - that is until I turned it on. First thing that happened was... and error. The first thing that I turned the laptop on was, "Windows was not shut down properly, do you want to run it normally?" Type of screen. It was then I was going to regret buying a laptop from Dell.
I was always against buying a Dell computer for years. This laptop however changed my views, so I thought I'd give Dell a try. Oh how I was shot down when I saw the error.
Well that error was nothing I couldn't get over and fix efficiently. There are many other errors, including when I put it to sleep and try to turn it back on, the monitor wouldn't turn up. Forcing me to turn it off by holding the power button or worst - taking the power supply out. Those problems might be just some options adjusting problems.
So onto the main problem. The reason why I wanted a laptop was because my room is big. I want my desk on one side of the room but the router can only be put on the other side. Thought the wireless card on the 1530 would be enough and, it was ... except for one big problem. It would idle and bring me offline after a ... well it would just bring me offline at random. And once it does that, I can't get back online unless I restart it. It can't even search for other networks. I've tried many things to try to fix it but nothing helped. So I decided to phone Dell out of frustration. Guess what? they couldn't even help. Even the Dell rep said it was weird, he did the things I tried to do and still does not help. It was at around 2am so I didn't have the energy to complain some more.
So now I'm wondering... Anyone here has had this problem before? If so, did you fix it and how?

Alright...a few comments:
* First turn on - If that was the first message you got (and not the message about agreeing to the EULA)...then you received a USED laptop. Did you buy from the Outlet? If not, report it to Dell immediately and DEMAND a NEW laptop.
* Networking issues - Welcome to Vista. I would suggest you update to SP1 immediately, which should pull in the fixes needed for this problem. -
Hmm That's what I thought. I'll contact them tomorrow... Getting late and have work tomorrow.
As for the Vista, yeah too bad the 1530 I got didn't have an option to put XP instead of Vista in. (It was the one on sale like $418 off during Easter)
