In the msconfig menu, there is a startup item that's just a box. Something like this []. Before my reformat it was there, and after the reformat it is still there. I'm assuming it has some pertinent function to windows since it's still there.

Anyway, what's this startup item for?

I have it, too, but I've disabled it. Everything seems to work just fine.

I had it too after a reformat. I edited it out of the registry without any adverse effect. I've seen other folks delete it without any problems cropping up.

That's kinda scary, good case for slopping an aftermarket drive in there.

By the way, what brand/model 7200 hard drives do they put in these things?
