I think I did pretty d@mn good getting this deal on e1705, tell me what you think.

    1705e w/
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5200 (1.60GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533 MHz FSB)
17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife™
2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
    160g hd 5200
    9cell battery,
    ATI 256mb 1400x,
    dvd/cd r-w,
    Bluetooth and
    Vista HomePrem.
    non-important -4yr @home service
    - total cost $1327.

Dh says its still to much money, (me throwing arms up in the air).

I had some problems with my first order so Dell threw in some upgrades and then I called to ask about returning laptop and Wayne offered $200 in credit and a $100 giftcard. so thats how I got to $1327.

    Stupid accountant husband. :p

Not a bad price. Try the Dell Outlet and see if there are any systems there you like that are lower priced.

Wow, usually it's the husband that has to get permission, I love the fact your pestering him to buy a notebook -- he's quite obviously unreasonable :)

But I guess if he's an accountant and knows the family finances, I can't argue. Do you really need that X1400 graphics card? Is the 160GB hard drive size necessary? Those are two options I could see down grading on to get the price down.

Not bad, but if as you state the 4yr @ home service is not important to you then try and get eh basic 1yr - will reduce the cost to a more reasonable level for DH.

Other options - leave DH for Wayne and his $200 credit or buy DH a game for the laptop - assuming that accountants know how to relax :)

With the 4 year warranty, that's a darn good deal. But if you can't afford it, no matter how good of a deal it is, you shouldn't buy it. But if you can afford it, and he just doesn't think it's a good deal, tell him that computer nerds will assure you that it is ;)

I'd say that's not a bad deal at all, I got mine for $200 less with smaller HDD and less memory different cpu - go for it.

oh gosh, i thought my wife is using the forum to call me for a dinner. -)

The deal for the specs is fine though I doubt the husband will ever use all this computing power.
