We're pretty tight with the Dell business side and they'd let us know of any pending Latitude releases, I'm actually having breakfast with their PR person tomorrow. Now the kicker is, if we're told anything we can't talk about it. But if they don't tell us anything we can tell you about it. Right now they have nothing on the Latitude side that they've told us about, so assume nothing before Christmas, look to February for anything new is my guess.

The Precision M70 and Latitiude D810 are fairly new releases less than a year I believe.

Dell's business line is slow to update and slow to add the latest and greatest technology, this is because in the business world ( for which these laptops were intended) one does not update to the latest and greatest the day it comes out, usually not for years. Think about it how many corporations out there are gonna buy new laptops because a the new 7800 gtx video card came out??? Not likely that any would. The latitude line still carries legacy ports for this reason, the corporate world still uses parallel and serial ports and fewer usb ports as they are far slower to embrace the options that home users want right away.

I wouldnt count on any new latitudes in the near future, they already offer what their competitors offer except a finger print reader. There's no need for them to refresh the line at this point, 64 bit and dual core certainly arent on the horizon for the demographic theses laptops are designed for. Home users need to keep this in mind when browsing these laptops.

The reason I ask the question is because i'm trying to decide between a x1 and d810.

Was hoping there might be a x1 with a better processor on the way or a d810 smaller in size! Cant seem to decide between the two of them because of these reasons.

Well this maybe a little off-topic but... it seems that Dell has just released the Inspiron B130 starting at $769, and it worked with the new coupon WS73HVJ7GN?81K too :) .

a.k.a. Inspiron 1300 in the Small Business line. Yeap, I know what you're thinking. The whole XPS M140/Inspiron 630m thing again :D ...
