Does anyone know what Dell has planned for upcoming promotions? Is there a period of time in the following 1-2 months where there are more coupons/discounts?

I doubt anyone knows what Dell is planning, if they did, they probably have a NDA and can't talk about it. Wait a few weeks for Black Friday/Cyber Monday, back to school, and Christmas/Boxing Day usually have promos too.

Will they give those discounts for online orders? I usually get the Dell Direct emails but the discounts for the past month or so haven't been that great.

They just had a 10 Days of Deals recently. I think they are trying to clean up stock of the current XPS line and transition to the new ones coming this month - hopefully.

Nothing too exciting in the 10 days deal IMO --hope for some 20%+ off on select models deals.

Hey, I think you will start seeing some good promo's coming out as it get's closer to the official Holiday season (like in almost 3 weeks already) :D

They had some good BFriday deals last year, etc... :) And, that lead into further deals going into December, etc :) So, we will have to wait and see!

    Cin ;) :)

A laptop that has the Penryn 1066 MHz FSB setup (Centrino 2). From the looks of it, Santa Rosa is almost 2 years ago. Montevina would be almost a year old by January 2009, so that's what I'm aiming for. The current $99 Mini / Studio 15 deal looks sweet but I didn't want to commit if there was something much better over the horizon. Based on my research, the $99 Mini deal is over 2 months old. I'm not sure when they're going to pull it.

I was going to give the Mini to a friend as a holiday present and the Centrino 2 Studio 15 is priced competitively especially with all the goodies (backlight keyboard, LED LCD).

If you wait to order you will need to give your friend a picture of a mini and say shipping (TBD....) - heck even if you ordered now you miss Xmas on the mini depending on your config.

How accurate is Dell's shipping estimate? My order status shows the Mini 9 will ship within 2 weeks while the Studio 15 ship date is early December!

Which amusingly I couldn't even access. I think their promotion didn't work with the new version of flash, and I'm not putting my computer at risk to stare at their promotions.

well, it seems i've missed out on opportunity to order with a "mystery" coupon that gives from 20, 25 or 30% off Small Business orders...

that would have been sweet for a M6400....

i'm hoping that soon, they'll race to get end of year sales up and give out some good deals.

If they'd actually sell their LED backlit screen and a Blu Ray drive on that Precision, I'd maybe get one...*IF* I was concinved the high end Geforce 8800GTX equivalent Quadro would really function like a normal Geforce if you installed the normal drivers instead of the precision ones...

But moot point since they don't offer LED (on the configuration pages I've seen) or Blu Ray.

I got that Mystery coupon but not for Small Business orders (just Home). Basically 99.9% of the people got the 25% off, and it was for select systems (non-stackable). I got a 30% EPP coupon about 2.5 years ago that I used for my Inspiron E1505 but I haven't gotten any more EPP coupons since then. I suspect they don't give coupons for those accounts unless you continue to buy stuff from them.

still that 25% on a system like the M6400 can mean the difference between... looking and hoping vs smiling and having... :D
