Will this have an internal EVDO option?

Because if it does, it will replace:

    1) Current Cell phone service
    2) Internet service
    3) Sirius Satellite Radio service (car and portable)
    4) GPS (car and portable)
    5) A/V (car and portable)

    :D

How do you expect an answer for this until the official specs are released? Anything until then is pure speculation.

You do know you can't use ultra and atom in the same sentence, right? Ultra what? Ultra small? Ultra light? Ultra EXPENSIVE?

The atom is a low-cost platform for budget sub-notebooks. That would be the right way to describe it. And you would find the atom quite a bit hard-pressed to do serious video processing. It's meant for casual use and not extended business use.

All the things you describe above can be replaced today with either a HTC Advantage or Shift. Of course, then you would have to pay an ultra price for it :D

    In summary: What an oxymoron!
Hmm so this "atom" is just gonna be a cheap processor for budget notebooks? Blah.

I think the OP meant ultra portable.

Yeah, they cost twice as much and can't do anything BUT those things I mentioned.

The Dell will be around $500 and with the new Atom it can handle Vista with ease. :D

Handle Vista with ease? I somehow doubt that, unless you meant to say XP with ease. The atom is not as powerful as the Celeron 630-900MHz in my 8G eee PC and I assure you the eee doesn't run Vista (basic with Aero off) with ease. Yeah, if you vLite it and take out a bunch of services, it's doable.

I think your expectations of Atom are a bit lofty. What the Dell Atom (or any other inexpensive subnote from them) will do is increase competition and force other manufacturers to innovate. That is good for all of us in the long run.

Of course it is. 1.87GHz, dual-core, more power, more battery life, 533MHz bus and 512KB of Level 2 cache memory.

The only question is EVDO or WiMAX.

In a similar vein to the old engineering adage, I think the phrase "cheap, powerful, feature-rich; pick two" may well apply in this case.

My XPS m1330 has all three. Moores law dictactes these three are better than past computers, and not as good as future processors.

One of those future processors is the Intel Atom.
