Damn. Nice find. Did exactly as you said and it raised my XP score to 3198. The next two hundred is almost certainly due to your extra 400Mhz XD

Either way it sure beats the crap outta my FX 5200.

    Good to hear!

I'm going to add that line to the boot.ini and see if it helps with the scores at all.

Well I added that line in the boot.ini and my scores went from 3400 range to 3285.

With that command not in the boot.ini, it goes back up to the 3400 range. Very strange.

Did you try adding that to your boot.ini and running the benchmark?

Posted it elsewhere but I figured i'd mention it here as well for anyone keeping track of this post: 101.28 was released on laptopvideo2go; apparently these drivers are new stock dell drivers that aren't even up on the dell website yet. NVS 140m is supported without a modded inf. Using these gave me a 3dmark score of 2979.

Operating temps seem a little lower (i8kfangui reports about 47 degrees celsius on the gpu after having the comp on for a few hours). No problems with resuming from standby. Estimated battery life seems longer (I think I can get almost 5 hours surfing the web now). Haven't had the computer randomly shut down on me (happened with 165.01 and 163.15). When I close the lid the display actually turns off (doesn't happen with 165.01 or 163.15). Overall, I'll take a more stability over a higher 3dmark score.

Note: I haven't reformatted yet, this was run off the factory install of xp home. I've gone through at least 10 driver versions, this one seems to be the best in terms of performance and stability so far. I didn't close any processes before running the test either; avg, zonealarm, aim, and more were in the background. I have no idea how much my score could benefit from such optimizations; personally I think it'd be pointless because when I game I won't be shutting down every single background process.

I believe I read somewhere that the boot.ini command was not needed for core 2 duos.

I'm not using vista, I'm on xp home, albeit the factory install with only roxio removed.

The random shut down only occurred when I was watching an episode of Alias on battery and then plugged it back in. And it didn't always occur. As for the display turning off, I think since 165.01 and 163.15 were built for desktop cards, there was never any function to recognize that the lid had been closed.

oh, and it looks like that was your 100th post, congrats!

Hmm, dunno what's wrong with yours. I didn't have any of those problems with 165.01 or 163.15 on XP, though I had similar problems with the factory installed Vista. Guess it's in the factory installation or something...

Yeah, on the whole I didn't really care that much, they were very minor problems. It was just somewhat more comforting not to have to modify an inf. And it was weird to have the device manager say Quadro nvs 440 under 165.01 (as the modded inf from lv2g didn't have nvs 140m). Not having standby/hibernate on 165.01 was annoying, too.

and im convinced 165.01/163.15 didn't have good implementations for powermizer, because I am definitely getting more battery life out of 101.28.

I dont know how is the vista score works, I used 162.13, the performance for windows areo went up big from 3.2 to 5.2, and Gaming Graphic drop from 4.4 to 4.3. When i use 165.01 and 163.15 the windows areo was 3.4 and Gaming Graphic was 4.3, so i think 162.13 may be better

Has anyone tested the new realeases? Is 163.15 still the best one to go with?

I'm very curios about difference between nvs135 vs 140. I've read in this thread that you have about 3200 in 3dmark05. I have about 1600-1800 (I'm not sure now) with D630 and nvs135 (2ghz, 1x1gb).. It looks like a very big difference. I'm using the latest Dell nvidia drivers.

    Hello,
has someone the Original Dell VGA Driver from CD for Nvidia Quadro 135M (Dell D630!) for Windows Vista??

I would like to install Vista, but Aero doesn´t work!! (1Minute it runs perfect, then it runs very slow until I reboot my Latitude.)

The Original OS from my Notebook is Windows XP Prof.

I have tried many drivers, from dell homepage, some from nvidia homepage, some from this page.. but it doesnt work :(

    thanks, dennis

    I installed 174.31 drivers on R61 with T9300, 3GB of RAM, XP SP3 and the NVS 140m.

With stock setting I scored around 1900 in 3DMark06 and with some Rivatuning scored a solid 2613. Link to score is in my sig.

I'm currently using the d830 w/ the Quadro NVS 140M w/ latest drivers on Dell's site. This thread confuses me, what are the best drivers I should download on laptopvideo2go.com?

    I'm using XP Pro, 32bit.
