So I was playing around with it last night and was able to get the video AND audio out through the HDMI port.![]()
I'm not exactly sure what was wrong, I changed my sound to the HDMI and it basically worked this time.
-
lol, and you start a thread for a simple user error? It was known for a while now, that HDMI indeed supports audio out on 1330, I believe it was Cliegal who confirmed it first. I dunno why did you have to bring it all up again
-
can you output digital sound?
edit: nm, found a thread on this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=137784&highlight=hdmi -
Is it treated basically as a regular coaxial digital audio port?
-
I will do alot of HDMI test next week when I get mine
-
Any details would be greatly appreciated! Particularly in a home theater setting and watching movies (ie normal DVD AC3 and DTS output, and whether it works with ac3filter or ffdshow for passthrough of PCM or AC3-embedded AVI files or on-the-fly encoding of AC3 from other multi-channel file formats such as WMV).
-
Me too
This friday -
I'd just be happy with AC3 and DTS output
-
i've got a 720p movie file of 300 waiting on my computer, with 5.1 AC3, waiting to be tested
-
I have about 300 5.1 AC3 files waiting to be tested
-
I don't get it, why do you need to test it? It works. period. HDMI is just one of the output methods, nothing more. Anything else is just a matter of configuring the sound card/software.
-
How are you so sure of this?
-
Uhm, maybe because I have one?
Also, you might wanna search, I think it was Cliegal who tested out the HDMI audio out, it was a while ago. And lastly, did you read op's initial post carefully enough?
-
oh, I bumped the wrong thread.
I was suppose to bump Sunfox's thread
Anyways, what application did you use to test the digital audio output through HDMI -
OMG, I told you it works, it doesn't make a difference, which app you are using... WHen you get one, you'll figure out all the details.

His post - at least the one I found - wasn't very informative beyond "he got sound" and "he had to manually enable HDMI audio" to get that. No specifics, such as:
* Did he get ACS/DTS passthrough? (Playback through his "surround system" could have been in mono for all I know.)
* Do you *always* have to manually change the audio playback device to get any sound out of HDMI?
* Does doing so always prevent the notebook's speakers from working, requiring another manual change back?
* Or, does this setting only have bearing when the HDMI port is actually in use? And if so, is it maintained between sessions?
* Does the HDMI port appear as an SPDIF port to other applications or is there some reason why you have to keep changing playback devices?
Some of us haven't bought the notebook yet and that's where details are important and appreciated.

I also have HDMI working...but the audio doesn't always work. I have a divx (xvid) video, but only the video works. No audio. Tips?
-
Is the audio coming from the speakers?
-
Nevermind, it works.
I thought it wasn't working, but it was actually. Maybe I'm going crazy.
-
i still have cropped picture on my HDTV, and since my HDTV doesn't have pixel by pixel, im stuck with this
great output of video though -
Thanks for posting this. Did you output to a tv or receiver? What make/model? And what hi-def audio format worked for you AND what sample rate?
I'm trying to get hdmi audio to work on my panny plasma...it's a PITA! -
So, hdmi audio is working on yours? Same questions to you, what's your setup?
