Im attending college this fall and I was thinking of upgrading my I8600. I currently have:
    1.6 Ghz Pentium M processor
    2x256mb Ram ddr-333
    128mb Mobile Radeon 9600
    60 Gb HD

I was thinking of upgrading to a 2.0 or 2.1 Ghz Pentium M and a 1 or 2 Gigs or Ram. This would cost 200 to 300 dollars. Is there anyway to upgrade the video card to a better one? And is this upgrade worth it?
Or i could wait for HP or Dell to get out the santarosa laptops with Nvidia M8600 and pay around $1500.

Upgrading the graphics card or the processor is not worth the hassle or the cost. Upgradeable gfx on notebooks is very uncommon; even if you can, you can only upgrade to something which is manufactured for an i8600. If 9600 was the best gfx option available then there is nothing to upgrade to.

But if you upgrade the RAM, then you should be able to use it comfortably for maybe another year with Windows XP. It should work well for basic college stuff like word processing, presentations, internet and multimedia stuff (but nothing heavy, like gaming)
