I have a 600m with the Dell sxga+ display and I'm satisfied with the display outside of brightness. Is there any way I can improve the brightness by replacing it with a better screen or inverter? The only route I'm not willing to go is getting a glossy display, I'd really like to stay matte.

You could try to replace the screen (getting a replacement on eBay) but remember that the cd/m^2 or the brightness will be the same. It is possible that age reduces the brightness from wear and tear.

It's only about a year old, the brightness is not noticeably lower than when it was new, I'm looking to get the brightness higher than stock if possible.
