    Hello,
I decided to upgrade my Dell Inspiron 1564 from a 720p screen to a 1080p screen, all came on OK as the connectors on the back of the screen appeared to be the same, however the screen was alot brighter and like your problem above every other line just had the pixel on.
I have attached some images of how the screen looks powered on.
Does it need a different connector?
The original screen model was by AU Optronics model B156XW02 with connector UM6 LCD Cable DD0UM6LC002
the new screen model is also by AU optronics model number B156HW01 V.5
    I hope someone can help

I think you just need to get an appropriate LCD cable. If the 1564 never shipped with a 1080p screen, they might have never made the proper cable, though.

What about if I were to try a different model screen? do you know of the LP156WF1 TL B1, i think it is by LG?

    Thanks again!

Do you know if the 1564 ever shipped with a 1080p screen? If the cable doesn't have enough leads for 1080p, switching the screen to another 1080p screen won't do anything.

You might be able to use a Studio 15xx LED screen as it has the same hinge design. The 1564 is very similar to the Studio design.

    Thanks again for your responses!
As far as I am aware there was no option of a full HD screen for the 1564. So am wondering if a different cable/connector would be required or if it would work at all?
I understand that the Studio Models do have the Full HD screens, however they also come with the dedicated graphics options, so am wondering do the have an entirely different connector on the board?? does any one have any experience with dedicated graphics and connectors?

Studios had soldered on GPUs so it would just be a LVDS connector on the motherboard. Older Dells with removable GPUs have the LVDS connector on the GPU itself.

You could try support.dell.com and punch in your service tag and go to System Configuration and that lists all the parts that shipped with your Dell.
