    Hello

I would like a genuine copy of windows 7, as a student i have be offered an upgrade to win 7 pro for £30.

However the oem xp pro disc i use is not the oem disc that came with my laptop, i still have access to another genuine dell xp pro sp1 oem disc (ie iits not been downloaded) it fully passes wga and wpa.

My question is can i upgrade successfully from this validated version of xp im running?

    Thank you.

As long as you have a valid license for your "base" OS (and you do), you can legitimately buy and use a Windows 7 upgrade. You will have to do a clean install, though, as Windows 7 doesn't allow you to "upgrade" directly from XP.
