As stated in another Thread, I had plan to keep my Dell 700m and upgrade it.

I hope that someone can anwer this question. I have decide to order my hard drive and memory from Newegg. I am looking at a A-DATA 1GB 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM DDR @ $83.99 and a Western Digital Scorpio WD1600BEVS 160GB 5400 RPM Serial ATA150 Notebook Hard Drive - OEM 333 (PC 2700) Notebook Memory Model ADFDB1A16 @ 104.99. Can anyone tell me if this memory is good, great, or so-so, and any information on the Hard drive. I am planing on ordering them on Monday. Any information would be helpful.

I've never used A-DATA, but I'm sure it would work fine, personally I'd go with Corair, patriot, or kingston. Speed is correct, that hardrive will not work. In the future just bump your current post, double posts just add clutter and waste space.

Thanks for the advice, :) I see what you are talking about, but what is the difference between the two? or is ATA150, just a new a type of HD connection?? I chose the " A-DATA 1GB 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM DDR @ $83.99" due to the price. :D I am just hoping that is the correct memory. Trying not to spend to much on this notebook upgrade. Sorry about the double post, :( I did not get any answers on my old post, and I don' t know how to bump my post, :( I am still learning. Thanks......it is appreciated. :D

Why would you suggest the SATA drive, unless I'm missing something the 700M only supports ATA-6.

Well, I place my order today :) and expect it in about 4 days or so. I went with the
    HITACHI Travelstar 5K160 HTS541616J9AT00 (0A28419) 160GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache ATA-6 Notebook Hard Drive - OEM
    and
    A-DATA 1GB 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM DDR 333 (PC 2700) Notebook Memory - Retail

Thanks for all the advise, I will keep the post updated once the parts arrive.

Well, I have installed and loaded XP home edition and it is running fine. Only one problem, 'Dell Media Experience' is not available on the Driver/Utility Disc.

I have a DVD program available on disc, but would like the Dell Media Experience installed. How do I get it??? Anyone know???
