Hey, I've been reading this board for a few months now and based on the opinions i bought the 1530 in my sig a few weeks ago. Now that i have it, i love it.

My only question is is there a way to upgrade the screen to the 1680x1050 screen now?

dell chat is braindead, and no matter how i compose my questions they do not understand.

    Thanks!

You can call up sales and order the part (320-6288) but you would have to install it yourself.

I really think if you talked to technical support enough they would let you order one and have a tech install it, Its just a matter of them ordering the part for replacement call xps tech support and give it a shot

    Patkinne,

Your only way to do this would be to order the high res panel from Dell Spare Parts or another online spare parts retailer. Mind you that these panels will be quite expensive as a post-purchase upgrade. Last time I asked for a replacement LCD quote, it was in the neighborhood of 500 dollars (from Dell) and that was without labor.

^It would possibly be cheaper to buy a new machine with the screen you want, and break it for spares...

I recently upgraded my M1530 screen from 1280X800 to 1680X1050. I bought the screen from an ebay seller

One more thing - if you don't buy the screen from Dell, your warranty will not cover it for any defects.

I just bought a dell and intentional got the smaller resolution screen.

I wear bifocals, and its only a 15.4" screen.

Make sure you really want the higher resolution before you go to the trouble, its not that much higher res really, a pain to do, and ensure it is really what is best before you hassle with it.
